Rover/MG fault codes question
I have a MG ZS180 that has been idle for a while, changing a clutch took longer than my attention span several times over and it has finally moved under its own power.
To reward my lack of interest it has decided I need an ABS warning light and a check engine light.
How do I get more detail from the bloody thing ?

I've got a 54 reg Rover 75 1.8 non turbo auto.
Does anyone know where the thermostat is situated? If possible, does anyone have a picture of said 'stat please?

Are you driving it? I've had an ABS warning light go off after a couple of miles and it's reset itself. It has come on whilst being stood with the battery disconnected.FatherJack wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 1:26 am Rover/MG fault codes question

Aye a lot of faults clear after three 'start, run till at temp & off' cycles. Provided the fault has gone.

Reversing 100 feet down the garden probably isn't enough then...
It needs an MOT for the driving about bit, and taking it for an MOT when the lights will cause a fail makes my wallet twitch.
The battery is borderline so perhaps I will start with that.

Re: Stupid questions about motorised conveyances
Can't you just run it up to temp where it is, just leave it running whilst stationery?

For the abs faults to clear the wheels will need to turn so the ecu can tell everything is hunky dory.

Re: Stupid questions about motorised conveyances
Does the Rover have an OBD port ? It should really at that age but Rover were a bit behind. If so just get a decent code reader on it as this will save time and effort. Without a code reader it is guessing and parts darts. Probably a sensor but as there are 4 along with the sensor rings you can throw a lot of parts at it when guessing.

Re: Stupid questions about motorised conveyances
I think a flat or fucked battery maybe to blame too. Try a smart charger overnight.
