These are the Loctal base, 12V heater version of the ubiquitous 6V6.

I don't understand electronics at all, but valves just have a very cool retro sci-fi technology look to them.

I can remember my old man having a valve radio - the smell of hot dust on Mullard valves and the glow inside the perforated back cover are still fresh in my mind. It had one of those magic-eye tuning aids too.
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......
