Restored the horn pushbutton.

That is a lovely thing......Some kind of Lucite like the bonnet Chief, I guess? As a kid down the scrappie in the Sixties I collected loads of them - the scrappy didn't care as they weren't ferrous, non-ferrous or ever likely to get bought. Most of 'em I plucked out the mud as they got tossed whenever someone removed the steering wheel they wanted. Never did get a Yank one, though - and I foolishly sold the ones I did have at Beaulieu one summer.

Sure is, which is why it's gone the same way as the chief, all crazed.

Lament not the loss of the pushbuttons. They are better when observed in their natural habitat.

I have a mysterious benefactor. This arrived in the mail today for me. Doesn't that look great?

I put the slam panel back together, rummaged in my odds and ends nuts n bolts and came up with some suitable fixings for the hood catch. Fixed the cable up, so now for the first time since I've owned it the pull handle opens the hood and the hood actually latches shut.

Really wish I had done all this stuff on my car before putting it on the road.....Once they're rolling I end up putting up with things like that.

Been there, done that. Decided that when it's ready, it's ready. There's going to be a few issues initially but nothing horrible on this. Mostly cosmetic.

I removed the spark plug wire carrier. Previous keeper had let the engine fall over while it was out and all the sheet metal was dented.
I beat it straight again with hammers, which was good therapy. I need to make up the lower section of the lead out tube as it is missing. Thing needs a thorough clean though, that's next.

Cleaned all the sheet metal up and painted it.

Shall have a go at making the missing piece tomorrow.
