Bought a fan. If actually helps a fair bit despite just redistributing air from the hottest part of the dashboard towards your face.

The pink building is the Bayou Folklife Museum. https://www.bayoufolklife.org/

I was parked next to the Center For Traditional Boat-Building. Old downtown(!) Lockport.

Went had dinner with the AACA club last night in town. Took the Pontiac because a high pressure blew in and it was cool and dry. Car did well, kept a solid 55 (it really didn't like 58, everything was all buzzing and rattling and getting unhappy sounding) there and back.

Plugs all look good. Need to check the front wheel bearings, started to sound a little grumbly towards the end of the journey.
Front alignment is also shit, right hand curves the car feels like it's going to let go. Left it digs in and turns happily. No point doing that until I've redone the suspension though.

Slowly getting there. I'm trusting the car more now. Not sure if that's a sensible thing or not but at least it's getting driven. Used just under a quarter tank for 65 miles round trip so that's better than expected.

Inconsequential, guy at the meeting last night said that he used to have a '48 Chieftain with the 8, and it would cruise all day long at 80-90 mph. That's running well in the redline for revs...

It is always raises anxiety that transition from being a project to a reliable user. Hope it continues to prove itself! Was the gearing and/or transmission different on those earlier 8s?

Reminds me of a bloke who told me he'd do 120mph in 2nd on a bike I owned & knew relined about 93mph in 2nd...

Yeah there's always an element of that. Had a kiddo round our way who got named "Ton-Ten-Two-Up" for similar claims. He had an RD250 and a rather chunky girlie.....

Phil, did you not say an engine rebuild was in otder? I can't remember the issue now.
