What cutting compound did you use Phil? Just elbow grease or power assistance? Looks one hell of an improvement.....

Formula 1 "Scratch-Out" to cut, Nu-Finish polish and Meguiar's carnauba wax on top.
All by hand.

Having the drum fan on just felt like sitting in front of a big heater in wintertime.

Re: 1951 Pontiac Chieftain
Glad I remembered, one thing that does need doing is the crankcase breather. I need to see if I can find a flame trap that fits. They've got one on eBay right now but it's $80. I'm sure I can do something for less than that.

Re: 1951 Pontiac Chieftain
While on eBay I found some 00 gauge welding flex but hot damn, that's expensive at $3.10/ft. Still, 20' gets the job done at $62 and it's good quality cable.
Gonna see if I can do better than that locally before ordering all the way from California.

Re: 1951 Pontiac Chieftain
Grabbed my tools and set about doing a job I had been putting off.
It's a hot task, setting the valves, under there with the engine running.

Most of them were in the wrong place, too tight. Sounds better now and runs more smoothly on the street. I've got burned hands but it was worth it.
