These old beaters are great for their original purpose.....I occasionally use the Cowley to shift an old fella around town precisely because he can actually get in it unlike the assorted space capsules his family turn up in.

Yup. Technically the pick-up truck's cab is larger, but it only has two seats in front, with a large center console; the rear seats only have 3 belts so it's limited to carrying 5 (not counting the technical legality of having people ride in the pick-up bed, to whit I could probably bring another 6-8 people in the back).

But yeah, cars designed for purpose tend to continue to do so quite well many years on.

My LHS is the same, plenty of room for six but there is an ironing-board between the two front seats so you can stash a 1990s brick phone and a dozen Garth Brooks CDs.....

The clock in the car had been losing time and sounded a little rough for a week or so, which is why it ended up on my bench.

Oiled the pinions which helped a lot.

I then set up the hairspring balance.

Yup, I set my clocks up with an oscilloscope. Don't you?
Nice even pulses now, which means the balance wheel is harmonious.

All put back together and back in the car, ticking away. We'll see if it's keeping time better in the morning

Yeah, I fixed it and it's been running for 5 years. It just needed service.
