Re: LDV fettling, again...
I asked about it the other week, it starts and runs apparently but the clutch is seized on, it was driven to where it's parked.Steve79 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 17, 2022 12:03 amFairly sure it's a Militant mk3BusmansHoliday wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 8:24 pm Fuck the Mazda, get that AEC Mamouth Major sorted and running

Re: LDV fettling, again...
It just goes to show how 405's are suited for places like Iran. It turns out the rad fans on the Inastate aren't working at all, rad switch I should think. As long as you are moving it doesn't even start to move the needle unless on a long incline. I wouldn't like it sat in traffic too long but a quick blast of the heaters n flat out and it stops climbing. That was driving with it at 35 degrees too.

I can't remember which car it was but I had one that didn't get hot enough to trigger the fans sat idling. I think the rad radiated enough heat due to its size.

I thought there wasn't many cars that did fire the fans up. I thought they were just there for extreme circumstances. The only time I've heard fan noise is with the aircon running.

The pugs got 2 stage, the first one you can't hear with the engine running, 2nd stage brings both on flat out and there's no mistaking it then.

Tbh the battery on the car has been lagging since I had it so has done well to last this long but earlier it wouldn't even light the dash lights so totally fucked. It still started and ran fine after a jump start, one of the advantages of zero ecus on board.
A few spots for that Vactan I bought too by the looks of it.

Re: LDV fettling, again...
Decided to see what I have in the way of fans, on high one turns plenty, the othe not so much, I think I found out why? I tried to solder some wires to the 2 iffy/snapped terminals but they won't hold so ordered another one off Ebay, bloody thing still works OK too. Bridging things out got the fan going and it's nice and quiet, I bet it hasn't worked for years.
Now all I need is some of those terminal connections.
