Re: 405 Quasar Estate
Absolutely I've got a virtually empty big bottle of Ribena here, it may well end up in the car when I drop it off.

Re: 405 Quasar Estate
I quite like the look tbh and the roads are so bad round here I can't see the point of decent alloys so steels with still some depth in the sidewall makes a bit more sense? I'm thinking maybe the same colour as 309 Goodwood wheels?
That's the car I found the photo of. Obvs I don't want it too low as it's got to work for a living and the wheels still need to turn round when there's some inevitable weight in it.
Re: 405 Quasar Estate
That special tool looks very similar to what I've used to bleed E36 cooling systems in the past. Particularly effective when parked with the nose pointing uphill.

Re: 405 Quasar Estate
A particularly useful bit of kit when there's no header tank higher up. I found out the hard way years ago after being persuaded to replace the metal pipe on early 405's that's by the drivers wheel. I'd been driving it on the water low light for a couple of months as it had a pin hole in it. I finished one evening at my mates little garage and he nagged me to change it so I did. Changed it, bled it or so I thought and then took it on the customary run to the next village on and back, a 3 mile round trip.
By the time I got back it was pissing steam out the engine like a fucking kettle £100 quid lesson learned by the time I'd bought another engine and fitted it.

I'm planning to replace that same hose on my 205. I've got a stainless steel replacement to go in. Luckily the 205 has a header tank and I'm aware of the bleeding procedure on them, having done one already.Scruffy Bodger wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 1:26 pmA particularly useful bit of kit when there's no header tank higher up. Re: 405 Quasar Estate
A mate was telling me about is 405 today. Travelling in convoy with a couple of other families. The diesel 405 shit it's head gasket and engine half way up Sutton Bank. His mate behind him towed the fully laden 405 up the bank and all the way to Scarborough in his brand new corsa 1.2 sxi.
