Unfortunately, you can rarely match original Lucas/Unipart durability. Trips to autojumbles and knowing your shit with part numbers allows you to stock up on NOS parts and avoid this Chinese rubbish.

Jack it up on one side. Turn the raised wheel and count how many times the prop shaft turns. Divide by two to get the ratio.SiC wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 10:38 pmI really don't know. The Reverend Bluejeans wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 8:54 pm But it seems to pull quite well with a longish second. What diff has it got?

I thought there was a way, but I'd gone blank on how. Nice one Ben.BenHar wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 7:29 pmJack it up on one side. Turn the raised wheel and count how many times the prop shaft turns. 3.7 or 3.9 for Midget diffs I think.

Re: Morris Minor Ratrod
I'll check when I get time. Currently cracking on with the Dolomite as have a fixed deadline to get it back on its wheels before my new garage door arrives.
Really the next thing that should be done on this car is get the plate off and then rip out the engine, gearbox and diff. Especially if a Midget diff. Then lob in one of the spare engines and diffs with a used 'box. Probably plate is grand, engine+box+diff is grand and half, then running car with the spare bits in probably another two grand.
If I cba
Would certainly make me popular on AS if I did that too

Re: Morris Minor Ratrod
The ratio will be stamped on the diff somewhere. To get the plate off they now require an mot so I have been told, not that will be a problem now.

Re: Morris Minor Ratrod
Interesting. When did they change that?
Noticed it's on the DVLA site too
https://www.gov.uk/personalised-vehicle ... number-off
Hopefully will mean less chancers that rip the plate off
something rare and unloved, to then scrap the car for parts.
I would like to get this MOT'd anyway. Especially to take the plate off as less chance for an inspection. Probably why they are saying it now as effectively making someone else pay for the inspection, instead out of their DVLA budget. Will need a few bits sorting like improving the horn contacts and such.

I’m usually against number plates being flogged but in this case the ID sounds suspect anyway. So crack on.

Or just jack it up under the diff and count the prop revolutions to one wheel rotation.BenHar wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 7:29 pmJack it up on one side.
