That’s very true. The other one I viewed had its original plate but in every single other way it was worse than the one I ended up buying and needed quite a lot of work to bring it up to standard. He wanted top money for it too.

Sadly, too, the law of Sod seems often to dictate that when something nice and original gets fucked up by an idiot it seems to retain an original number....

My old RHD 58 Chevy Belair was an original import and was registered as VXO9, it was always (and still is) referred to as 'VXO'. Sadly a few years ago its then owner took the plate off so VXO lost its identity. At least he put the plate on a GMC truck. My Anglia has its original plate and I have no intention of selling the number, indeed I really should make it non-transferable.

How is that done? (Just curious)

No idea I'm afraid, I haven't looked into it yet especially as no doubt it means dealing with the DVLA etc etc. They'd probably want to know the ins and outs of a cat's arsehole about the car.

I am not sure you can make it so. AFAIK the majority of "non-transferable" original plates are made that way by DVLA after having agreed to allow continued use of a lapsed registration upon the original vehicle in cases of missing logbooks or incomplete V5 history etc. Think this was to stop subsequent sale of a number upon which history-based concessions of continuity were given by Swansea.

New numberplates on and what a difference it’s made if I do say so myself.

Proof the headlights now work. They’re not that bad either. An excellent pair of reflectors in them.

Old with new for comparison. The old ones were cheap crap and I’m so pleased with the difference the Tippers ones have made to the look of the car.
