First year of 8-track or were there stereo radios for cars by ‘66? (The stereo radio system was only standardised in ‘61)
Yup, stereo speakers for 8-track option.
Included reverb unit under the shelf too.

Good news, I still can't weld for toffee. At least the machine still works.

Found the missing reversing light lens. It's all beaten up but it should glue together.

I found my turn signal stalk!

Edit: Had some time so had a go at making these pieces better.

That's quite a transformation on that stalk, you wouldn't think it'd improve that much?

The lighting flatters it.

A very old school visor! Modern automatic one should free up that hand to allow you to steady the torch with it. I'm pretty rubbish single handed and need my other hand to prop the torch and steady it if I need more than just a tack.

Yup. I have a modern one on my wish list. Just didn't seem wise to buy one if the machine remained broken.

I found the handle for the parking brake release. The red lens has a flashing bulb behind it that comes on when you depress the brake. Amusingly, I discovered that the parking brake actually works.

The left hand gauges in the car were dirty. The spare ones unfortunately ended up submerged in rainwater in a plastic tote after the storm.

Tested the gauges still work (even the submerged ones!) which is a good thing.

Wire wheeled the surround down and removed the rust.

Coat of flat black has it looking nice. Polished the lens up too.

All the beige looking parts of the surround were originally chromed, but that had gone bad with time and damp.
So, the next best thing in my budget, bright metallic silver.
The surround by the words will go light gray and the ribbed bit in the middle will go flat black as it was.

Hopefully that'll look nice.

I've been led to believe there's a more shiny silver paint available.
I shall have to find it and try it.
