Granted, the WCD is a smaller carb and would probably limit the engine to about 180 hp (from what I read), the stock BBD is good for 230.

Makes me wonder how the BBD would run the Pontiac, though. I might rebuild it for giggles and try.

I put the BBD back together being as I have a known good carburetor to test with.

I tried putting the lower gasket in place using the dimples created by the clamping force on the gasket but nothing lined up.
Turns out RTV Man had put the gasket in upside down and backwards; hence the RTV. Half the idle circuit was open to atmosphere. It must have been pissing fuel out everywhere.

Remember, if it's too difficult, ask an adult.

Gave it a bit of a tweak and it'll fire up and idle just by hitting the starter now.

Went rummage for gearbox linkages, couldn't remember if I had them with the car. Sadly I do not.

I did find the door lock set, which I didn't know I had. That's nice. They're sitting in oil because they're jammed fast.

Found also the screen wash pump.

It was jammed full of dirt and locked up solid.

Some gentle persuasion later and it pumps again.

Could've come out worse from all that.

Had a shufty around the engine bay and found where the pump mounts. Makes sense, the screen wash bottle fits in to the left of my hand.
