It has three breaker points. There is a felt plug on the cam that actuates them, which must be oiled at all time with a special oil made just for that.
Well, it wasn't, so when driving 800+ km/day, it melted the point heels and near Cloppenburg it became severe enough so that the points didn't open anymore, resulting in no spark.
ADACman just gapped them and put some miracle elixir on the felt pad and it has been running fine again ever since. They are at the very end of their adjustment range now, so I picked up two more sets from a DKW shop in Moers, which just so happened to be on our route anyway.

Excellent road trip, like your Deek and it did pretty well for one of them old cars mate. I think they were made for quite a while in Brazil etc weren't they? Good to see you as it were and more stories eagerly awaited. I would write about my cars but I am way too lazy to do so except to say that my Impala's engine is expensively broken.

I scored very low on the autie test. I’m cheerful, happy, confident, like meeting new people, chatty and largely sociable. What the fuck am I doing on this forum?

After production had ceased in .de, they continued to be produced in Brazil, Argentina and South Africa.
Vemag in Brazil continuously updated them. SA built RHD cars and CKD kits for Newzea Land, where they were assembled and some exported to Strayla.
They held out longest in Argentina, where IASF built them without any major modifications until 1969.

It's been sitting outside a local garage ever since, so the better part of seven weeks.

In the meantime I've made it Great British and had plates made.
