I remember, tried to write bubbed, phone put bubbled, thought that was funnier.
As I suspected I was right about everything.

Re: Escort endeavours
Mum had a brand new Mk1 1300XL back in 1972. My brother, as part of his Ford Bodyshop appreticeship, gave it a bare metal respray in 1977. Needed new sills, front wings and bits of the floor replacing. They don't build them like that anymore.
I drove a number of A and B plate Orion diesels for a local taxi firm in 1986. They were dog slow, the drivers seat in each one were completely flat. Horrible things.
Only owned one, a 1982 1600cc petrol powered estate. Bought cheap in 1989, but it went really well, considering it had done stellar milage. It was a Sainsburys car at first, and I was told it was driven from London to Aberdeen and back every week.
One of the previous owners had fitted XR3i wheels which well suited the shape of the estate.
Also drove a neighbours week old RS Turbo. Pissed rotten. With him and 4 others in it to go and get a Chinese.

Re: Escort endeavours
Driving Escorts pissed or otherwise in a dangerous fashion seemed to guarantee immunity....One morning in the office c.1985, a salesman looked up at the clock one morning and shat himself as he was due on a London train in 7 minutes - the drive to the station from the office was at least 10.
Being the office tearaway, I grabbed the 1.3L Escort pool car keys told him to hang on to his briefcase and off we went....I won't recount the entire journey, however brief, but suffice to say pavements, horn, headlamp flasher and a small part of the pedestrian precinct were involved. Helpfully, the beige plain-ness of the car and two young suited occupants at least gave an air of plain-clothes Police. The train was late, too!

Re: Escort endeavours
My most disappointing Escort experience is that despite searching through every issue scanned on the Vintage Erotica Forum http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/index.php I couldn't find a Girls Of Wirral feature.

Re: Escort endeavours
We had an SD1 at work at the time.....Boss's motor. It was an O Series, though, so better off with the Ecky!
