Sierra, Royale and Range Rover update.

Post by Steveb »

Sierra is used several times a day and is providing sterling service.

Royale has a problem with over fuelling. Filling the sump with unburnt fuel and tremendous fuel fumes from exhaust. Have changed all electrical sensors, ECU, injection system -all that's left is the fuel pump. Also changed the leaking steering box.

Range Rover was running fine until the door amplifier got wet and went up in smoke taking a part of the loom with it. All fixed now for £25.

Superb fleet there. I have to avoid looking at P38as, mind, to avoid being tempted into the likely ruin of owning one.

Concur. I would love a p38. Even back in 2006 when I got I got into serial shit-car ownership I wanted one. Ideally a 4.0/4.6 in one of those loud colours like the electric blue. I could easily get one now, but I find myself wanting an L322 now in Westminster spec or something equally impressive*

Good work with the Sierra, Steve - lovely to see it still effortlessly plodding along

Yeah there is something tempting about P38 and L322 RRs even when you know what they are like.

No there isn't! I've borrowed Tommy's L322 and couldn't wait to take the bloody thing back! (Minus the seatbelt bong of course)

Another MOT for the Sierra-needed a bit of welding on the rear seat belt mounts and a CV joint-cost £270. Couldn't be bothered trying to weld upside down in the cold.

The Vauxhall would do me.

The overfuelling is a strange one - I thought a 1979 Royale 2.8 would have a Solex 4A1 carb? Opels had Bosch L Jetronic.

The original engine and gearbox were replaced with a 3.0 injection engine and 4 speed auto from a late Senator. The fuelling issue was a stuck open auxiliary air valve-took bloody ages to find.
