Magneto recurve and guvnor removal

Post by DaveDorson »

I have an old scintilla vertex from a VW industrial engine that I want to use in a a road car.

To do that I need to remove the rev limit guvnor and have it recurved to match either a Bosch 009 or 010 distributor ( and can supply advance curve graphs).

Bit of a dying art there days.. anyone know a person who can do such things?

That's a bit strange, maybe they've had second thoughts about the things, I certainly have. The last thing that moves I had with one was a 500 Matchbox, before that a Velo 350 and both were pigs to start. They'd been remagnetised or whatever they do to fix them not long before I bought them. However I regularly had to resort to push starts or the old 'try again later' and I've vowed never to let another mag into my life, flywheel ones excepted.
