To be fair I've never bothered what a car looks like externally. I'm more into making sure the car is comfy and enough space for me,family etc which is why I like xsara Picasso's!

I don’t think this is a big deal , over the years we’ve had a few Land Rover products ; Series’, Discoverys, Range Rovers, Defenders and Freelanders. The only ones that ever get referred to as Land Rovers are PROPER Land Rovers.
“ Let’s take the Freelander”
“ You need to move the Disco to get the Land Rover out”

My Dad currently has a Series 1, old Discovery and a late old style Defender , even the Defender is not honoured by being called “ The Land Rover” Everyone knows which one that means.

Providing a car does what I need it to do I'm happy. Anything more is a bonus. For example the Mondeo has a towbar and a good towing capacity which is an added bonus to it being comfortable.

I never thought of it as you worded it but reading it back makes sense. I've always called discovery a disco and a Freelander a hippo. Too many sub categories of them now though so does make sense calling by it's original model and I'm sure there's some overlap between sizes. The range rover Evoque is not too big but a new disco is not far behind a full range rover. Then there's the sport of each also.

What we are seeing is Euro car brands in a tailspin.

The Chinese are coming, mainly up the arse of euro car makers. They will wipe out the lower end.

With the forthcoming electric junk only a few of the pioneers - Tesla and Polestar - are going to succeed. They are the trendy new kids, the rest can fuck off.

If LR built an electric car it would still leak oil and fail to start.
