No no.

340 had 1.4 Renna engine (later added were 1.6D & 1.7 pez Renna) with lame bonded rubber propshaft.

360 had Volvo's own 4 pot "red block" B19 / B200 engines with torque tube.

That's how Volvo used to work. First number was the model, second was cylinder count and last was doors. Eg 262 2 series 6 cylinder 2 door,245 2 series,4 cylinder 5 door aka estate and saloon was 244. That went out the window mid 80s I think and just were called series number and cylinder count but with a zero Instead of door count. Eg 240 and 760,4 pot or 6. Again that made no sense though with the 760 turbo which was a 4 pot and the 360 and 460. The 360 was a 2.0 I think and all 460s were saloons instead of hatch backs. When the 480 was released it again made no sense to the old scheme.

Well it's an aluminium tube with bonded rubber ends.

Pleased they're dropped the name, it was coined for a simple utilitarian and dependable vehicle and their current products meet none of those criteria. People seem to like the stuff they make so good for them, but to me the company build overpriced and unreliable status symbols. Even if they were affordable I'd be embarrassed to drive one. If they need another silly model name I'd suggest RANGE ROVER VULGAR.

Thanks for the explanation bub. So, did they make some 850 models without the five cylinder engine?

That's not on the badges after Model Year 1982.
Still used on Volvo's parts computer when I worked in a dealer around the late 90s. Hence I said model code, not model name. Look up the reg and you'd get 854, 855 etc

This is from Autocar Business. I disagree with their views on EVs, Climate etc..but this strikes me as a pretty factual article about the Land Rover name:

"This new role will see it essentially become a technology underpinning these brands and a guiding force in the background. Its name will remain attached to the likes of the All Terrain all-wheel drive system and the wider software and technology that will appear on the three brands under the Land Rover umbrella.

However, contrary to reports on social media (most likely a case of two plus two making five), the Land Rover brand will not disappear from the cars, and the cars will still carry the Land Rover name and badges. But it will be a more back-seat role, the brand name not communicated alongside the models, nor appearing as prominently in dealerships or in advertising for the models."
