I keep having second thoughts about the 205.
It's a great fun wee car on its own merits, but when I set out to buy a car in October I meant to get something like an estate...
I had to take both wheels off the mountain bike to fit it in the 205. Not ideal.

However it's also fun and cheap.

No, I won't get a third car. I already feel very conspicuous having two in the car park at the flat.

What you need is a nice Transhit Custom to replace it, I think we know someone getting rid of one.

You can have the cunt today if you like.
At least when you have your bike in the back you'll have a way of getting home when it shits itself.

Serious though, I wouldn't give it to my worst enemy.

I drove the BMW a fair distance this weekend.

Yesterday was Stirling to Broadford, via Glen Shee, the Lecht, Glenlivet and Inverness.

Today was Broadford to Stirling, via Dornie, Fort William, Glenfinnan, Glencoe, the Skyfall Road and Aberfoyle.

It managed to hold its own with the more modern cars I was with. Partly due to me knowing the roads a bit better and partly due to the others being seemingly shite drivers with no concept of carrying momentum smoothly round corners.

I also somehow managed mid-30s MPG on average the whole way, even though 6,000rpm+ was visited many times. It makes a brilliant noise when you kick its cunt in.

Leaving a 40mph zone by dropping into 2nd and hoofing it is rather addictive.

Indeed. It's why we picked early March.

We still got stuck behind a handful of camper vans, but not the hordes you see from about late March all the way through to Autumn.

Meanwhile, I took the 205 out today (I had today booked off work as a sort of rest day after the weekend's driving).
It's decided to develop a vibration from somewhere. I can place my hand on the bonnet when it's idling and it vibrates my whole arm. Under acceleration the entire car buzzes like it's trying to impersonate a pulse jet. Amusing, interesting and also concerning all at the same time.

The Highlands really are stunning. Better when the sun is low and casts long shadows, magnificent when the weather is angry.

Does anybody want a Peugeot 205, then?

I paid for its replacement last night, as alluded to in Split Pin's thread. :D
