Also most modern cars the shifter is mostly lip service. The fully electronic controlled ones put themselves into Park with ignition off if they're left in drive. Reverse is easy to tell too anyway as the parking sensors will be bleeping at you.

My modern mini countryman puts itself in park with ignition off and also if you open a door. Which can be an arse un a narrow car park when I like to check I'm in the lines. A lot of moderns now have column auto stalks. Citroen definitely do on the c4 spacetourer

Running yourself over with your own car is quite a feat. Doing it twice is just ridiculous. Can't find a reference to the second incident but I remember it happening
