How are they fixed to the spindles?

My T2 uses grubscrews which are absolutely crap, which is one of the 68 only bits.

The spindles have an axial groove. The arms have a leaf spring. When you push the arms onto the spindles, the spring is supposed to click into the groove. The problem is that those springs are a bit tired after 52 years. In theory they could be re-tensioned, but due to the way they are arranged I haven't come up with a method to do so yet. The current fix is the arms are pushed home, then some wire is twisted around the spindle to hold the spring in the groove. To remove the arm this wire needs to be cut first, which I sure will have forgotten when the time comes, thus then also needing new spindles and a new slam panel with the Phamous Phlap. Obviously someone 'fixed' this before, I removed traces of old, rotten yarn from the spindles.

I spent a pleasant journey with an old fella who used a 16 as a taxi back in 1973.

Good points.

Mega comfy
Heater was better than the one fitted to contemporary Fords/Vauxhalls.
Great in the snow.

Bad points.

Carb issues when hot.
Parts availability shite
Rust and water leaks.

Apparently fares were 30p a mile back then and if you took £20 on a Saturday night you were happy.

You could use PTFE tape for now? Or longer term, could you tap a grub screw into it? Would probably be a better method of retention anyway.

Anyway. An old ad but these are for nothing.

It's also a Simca, and thus excellent.
