I don't think the tank has time to accumulate any rubbish. More concerning is the use of bougies sans Eyquem.

The Champions were recommended by sir Panhard and he is a French car Guru.
However, since the current Eyquems, which were installed before our trip to France, show no signs of anything untoward, I left them in for the time being. The Champions will be used at the next service.

Right. The R16 was pressed into business service this week just because I bloody wanted to and have insurance taken out for that purpose. I've returned from my tour of the Midlands this evening without the car displaying any glitches whatsoever apart from me having to adjust the tickover down a bit, it was set too high. As you can imagine, modern traffic struggled to keep up with it, save for when sitting stationary in congestions for hours on end, which it did with much bravado. I think I could let it sit and tick over all day long. I'm now more than ever confident all my driving can be done with a 52 year old Renault and the more I drive it, the more I hate modern tosh, which sadly begins to include my Peugeots. I would like something older as a reserve car just in case, seeing Tractions in abundance in France did reignite an old love, I must say, so the hunt for money has begun.

A few observations regarding the new carby:

- The slight stuttering around 90 kph is gone completely.
- The speed it's doing on its own (you know what I mean) increased from 110 to ca 130 kph.
- It consumed merely two thirds of a tank on the tour. I will have to record the consumption once more to see what the exact figure is now, but I have the funny feeling it went down considerably, which is absolutely detrimental for The Climate™ Improvement®.

And how on earth can it be that a car becomes quieter overall by fitting a new carby?

Anyway, I bought a LH engine mount just because it came up cheaply on eBay.



They usually are ouch expensive (no, really). So I'll have to wait until luck strikes again with a RH one, then I will change those, too. I guess after over half a century the originals may be like hewn from Granite.

But such is life for pre '68 R16 owners - you buy parts when they come up for sale, not when you need them. If you buy them when you need them, they make running a Miura a cheap proposition in comparison.

I have to say, that grey Austin A55 ignited a trouser tent in the Bluejeans massive. If they weren't so obscenely expensive, I'd be bombing around in a pre 70 Mini.

On that basis, I firmly believe a Maxi is what you need.

Maxi is nice, but ideally I'd like something with a slower ticking time bomb for a suspension system. Twisting iron rods are the dictate of the hour.

An older Hydrolastic one is better - can't recall when Hydragas replaced it. About S/T plate iirc.

If there were any left, a vidid coloured Renault 14 would be a fine choice.
