Sadly OEM exhausts for R16s are no longer made. Crooner gave me an original front pipe he somehow came across and since that's installed, at last the orientation of the exhaust system is correct. The pattern part was pure tosh, incorrectly bent, so that the front silencer was on a downward slope, which resulted in the entire exhaust to sag like a hammock.

When funds allow, a new custom job in mild steel won't be that much....?

Or stainless if you're flush. But they're $$$$

Stainless always sounds shit.
Only the pipes could possibly be made, the silencers are bespoke and look like something the Mysterons would use to oppress humankind.

You don't want to know how much they cost, trust me on this.

Later models, especially the TS and TX, use a tad more standard looking silencers and complete stainless and mild steel systems are available. However, they aren't compatible with mine and cannot be retrofitted.

My exhaust is currently a mix of original, pattern and custom made items. The silencers are all original.
As I mentioned before, the real weak point was caused by pattern parts and this has now been rectified with original and custom parts. The only thing still unresolved is the clamp at the manifold, an original of which is on order and shall arrive next week.

Some of you may remember this:

These were the proceeds of a trip to Caen in Autumn 2018.

As of today, they have finally been put to good use.

That looks great. I've had three 16s now and they have all been black plastic. That really improves it

It really does. Sadly it's not entirely period correct, but obtaining a good one of the correct vintage in anything other than plastic is tough indeed.
Did you notice that for 1967 they offered the fewest exterior colours in all of R16 history?

No, unfortunately I did not get given the colour charts when I chose my 16s. Besides, the previous two were 1972 and 1979. The 72 was a beautiful metallic blue. Wish I had kept that one.

This is what Magnus compiled regarding exterior and interior colour info: http://www.r16site.com/facts/colors.htm

That's a massive improvement over black, I'd say it at least matches those orange P6 interiors for coolness.
