My dad had a couple growing up. A pre face-lift a plate 2.0 gr auto and a later E plate 2.2 gti auto. Great cars but I couldn't afford one now

I do like the galaxy/alhambra/sharan but rust is a major issue.

Not on the one we had. Mind you I called it a mark 2 but thinking about it that was maybe what the facelift versions were called.

It was a 2007 model.

I've seen a 2005 for sale locally for 500 but mot failure on rust. It can be a nightmare to chase.

I had a Mk1, N288OFL, as a company car in 1995. A great family car but bits of trim used to drop off with depressingly regularity.

Regarding the Merc no, no, no, no, no.
You have a working car. The Merc will be a time-bomb, so no, no, no, no.
But don't listen to me I'm stupid.

The guy read the message but hasn't replied. Speaking to my mechanic friend he has said its not practical, parts aren't as readily availabl. He also said I need to think if I twat the drive way post (narrow street, long car with no visibility and a cunt neighbour who parks directly opposite) he said if I bust the headlight and wing one night he can get parts from any scrapyard round here and have it back on the road the next day.

Mot till July next year and it's a car I've owned one of before and even though it's a hatchback car I find them very comfy.
