Dodge, I have no idea what the grey thing is in the background, but this pic does show that the body weight of the Ghia is probably all that is holding it to the pan… Apparently they have an old 70s Porsche there too. Sounds like a 914 (maybe a 924) but from the confused description I would guess a 914.
It will be fun to find out, but will be out of my $$$ league I would guess (and I’m all about the Ghia right now)

Been sent some pics of the 914. Another friend seems to collect any car with Porsche written on them, but in this case, think it’s a bit past anything but driving into the ground (as they are a bugger to repair the steel on). Was supposed to see it today, but the Mrs has thrown up 101 things to do, so looks like I have to decide between the football and the car tomorrow. And you can bet I won’t get internet service for 5 live to listen to on the car drive over there…

They look so much better than the overhyped 911s, still ugly but so much better than 911s.

True. I fleetingly had a 914 with a 2.7 911 engine in it and it was a grin worthy, arse on the road, type of experience.
Can’t say I’ve bonded much with my 911. I’m honestly thinking of selling it. I couldn’t afford an early long hood car, so bought the best impact bumper car I could find and afford. An 86 3.2 Carrera. It’s a pretty car, but not as much of a drivers car that people would lead you to believe- or maybe I’m just too much of a woose to drive it hard enough to get the reward back from it.

Again, an MG midget is way more fun.

I didn’t get to see the cars this weekend. Family, football and other things got in the way (largely the resounding idea that I have nowhere to put it). Arseburgers.

Things have been ominously quiet with the WReX wagon.
I refilled the AC and it worked great for around a month and a half, then there was a weird smell and no more cool air.
That’s buggered then.

Went to local garage and they quoted me $700 upwards to fix, so thought bugger it and have been driving with the window open. Not that I’ve been driving much, as I’m still a little dizzy.

A bit of a grin though. One headlight went (two weeks after both taillights went) so I bought two new midrange price lights from the local Autofactor (NAPA). Damn me if the side that hadn’t gone before, crapped out with the new bulb. I didn’t want to mix and match with the old set, so went and bought another. Then I realized that they were supposed to have a 2 year guarantee.
The new bulbs weren’t even two months old.

Asked the guy in the store and got the usual resounding ‘dunno’ when I asked him how I redeemed the warranty, so went online.
Filled out the form, taking pictures of the bulb etc and heard nothing. Oh, well, it was worth a try.

Yesterday at the front door, there is a brown parcel waiting for me. The wife did the ‘have you ordered something?’ To which I managed a ‘no, it must be yours’.

It was for me and from the light manufacturer. Only two brand new, top of the range LED bulbs for the Suby!!! They sell for $97 each pack of 2 - probably worth more than the car! The original bulbs were $20 each bulb so super excited to get them fitted and see how they light the road!

Result!

Well, just over a year into WReX wagon ownership and I’ve racked up just under 20k miles. 18,956 to be precise (as of this morning). One breakdown due to a hose clamp and a range of little niggles that haven’t really affected the day to day running. Fantastic little car but I’m getting the change bug again…

I bought a car the last time I was in the UK (much to the boss lady’s annoyance) and that is finally going to be shipped.
The exact date of purchase turns out to be Sept 17th 2019! Wow the world is such a different place now… and those changes have been the main issue of the delay.

It’s over 25 years old and should arrive in the US on November 15th. Then I just need to get it through customs and 1,500 ish miles from Baltimore to Minneapolis. The down side is it will have to be transported as it won’t be legal on US roads until I get it registered.
Here’s a pic of it going to the dock. Even though it’s a teaser, I think it’s just too easy! In other news, to make space for the xxxxxx, I think the Jag has to go. It’s been fun, but what with the increase in car values, I can sell it to a ‘we buy any car’ for only a small loss (the state tax - a bit like VAT on cars of around $4k).

Then I’m going to look for a WReX replacement for this winter… I would love a Defender (old one) but way too expensive in the US to then run through the snow and crap here, so maybe a jeep, shogun, Honda Pilot or something… needs to be cheap!

That's a pretty sporty tyre, something 7esque with the wheel right at the back up to the bodywork like that?

Damn, I knew it was too easy! Not only fast but right too! Went over to Brandshatch the last time I was in the UK. It’s mega old, so was the cheapest car they had for sale and because it was so old, was importable into the US. Has a 1600 cross flow in it, so it isn’t fast, but it’s more about the driving experience- which should be very MG midget like.

Should be setting sail from Southampton on Nov. 5th and into Baltimore on the 15th. My uncle has been a star for the past two years, storing it in his garage for me.

Very nice That'll be a very rare sight in the states surely? Do you actually fit in it it then? With the power* from a 1600 Xflow those tyres should be absolutely un-stickable I should think!

I drove a Vindicator as my only car for a number of years, an ugly, wider, heavier copy of one of those, it was great fun. I made up for the weight in the end by sticking a 2.1 Pinto in it with rally cam etc. I bought it something like 25 years ago I think. It's languishing in a field now, has been for years, slowly returning to the earth
