I was so pleased to see it in this world of woke. Means so much more to me than some stupid name and flag.
Then again, I’m not the inflicted party, so I guess it’s tough to say.

People still think it’s okay to hear me talk, then suddenly break into sounding like Dick Van Dyke doing his best chimney sweeping or someone out of Harry Potter, but would never do the same for some Chinese or other accent. Personally I wouldn’t give a damn, but for the fact I’m white so it’s okay. Personally, I think in the past, mistakes were made, but it’s more about who you are and what you do, rather than what you look like (unless you look like ‘hot pants’ Kyle or ‘Herbie Fully Loaded’ Lindsay Lohan - then you are in trouble) .

Anyway, like I say, it was great to see it!

That’s why I took the photo! Shock value. 9 out of 10 for execution, but only 4 for style*

I managed to ‘daily’ my Westfield for over a year, but my drive was about two miles if I took the long way around. Very different from my 45 minute drive each way today!
I'd do very similar but my normal route to work was 30 miles a day but I'd tend to go the long way round to avoid sitting in traffic and that meant 40 miles travelled. Vindicator are comfy with a half decent boot so clocking up miles was easy. Aberystwyth was another regular run as the girlfriend was there, 180 mile round trip, it's easy to clock up a few miles. I used to permanently hopscotch traffic as it had the overtaking punch to do it, the mpg's suffered accordingly, 15 mpg was possible but I tended not to try and calculate it

Wow! 15 to the gallon. The Jeep dropped to that doing 80mph and I thought I was being hard done to (and that is closer to 18 in British gallons)

Last weekend, a friend was helping out at a ‘test and tune’ event here in the cities.
He invited the young un and myself along, to do some ride alongs with him and see if we could sneak a run in other peoples cars too.

It must be said that my friend is probably the closest I know to the Stig - someone who can really drive.

He was there in his modified MX5. It has a fiesta ST engine in it, that he swapped in, being (to his knowledge) the first person to have completed the swap (though quite a few have tried). It almost bolts right up to the MX5 box, which is one of the reasons, it’s been tried a few times.

There were two courses a twisty and a slightly faster sweeping one. I had a few rides in the twisty side.
An average driver (with passenger) was recording around 42 seconds with a stock engined MX5. A good driver was running 40 second in an MX5 with aftermarket suspension and tires.

My old Atom was there and the new owner was running 36 to 38 seconds but was limited by the slightly older tires. He’s a pretty good driver.

My friend who is an amazing driver, did a couple of 32 second runs and ended up with a high 30s in this…

Knowing that you spend most of the time in second gear, it’s not a top speed thing! Talk about an insane ride along!

Managed to get the overheating under control (famous last words!) on the Caterham so took it for a test run around the lake today…

I was going to have this week as vacation with little Broccoli- working on the Miata and 912… then we found flights to San Francisco for $250, so I guess the next stop will be some trams and bullet reenactments!

As it was an extra $15 for a second day, we did that!
Been to a few fancy sneaker stores and the young un blew $100 of his savings on some lightly used Nike basketball shoes.
Went to the botanical gardens and science academy.

Tomorrow is a bucket list day for the old man. Route 1 in a convertible!
It’s a Turo rental and $150 for the day with 100 miles (so I’ll have to pay a little more).
Nothing fancy, but not a car I would ever buy…

Interesting and flawed car.
Still can’t ensure the best weather though!
