If that's one of those humane traps best drive to Tallahassee before you let'em go.....Bloke in our street had mice in his shop and reckoned he walked his catch to a bit of wasteground behind the shops across the street, chucked the rodents in an upturned sewer pipe and the bastards beat him back to the shop.
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......

Still no nibbles on the trap and then last night, after picking little un up after school, I had to make a bit of a speedy plunge into traffic.
First time I’ve given the car ‘the beans’ and you can probably guess where this is going...
It started with a whoosh followed by a huge ‘pop’ and about 1/2 the power I had been expecting.
Hopefully I’ve only blown a turbo hose off.
By the time we had limped home, I had to make supper and only then could I go and survey the damage.
The car is now living outside (due to mouse) so torch light reconnaissance was the theme.

Looks like the connection to the inter cooler might be the culprit (I hope). Apparently the interweb suggests cleaning the fittings up, applying hairspray (to the joint - I don’t have enough hair to worry about such stuff) and once it’s sticky, fit the tube back over.
Little job for Saturday in the daylight me thinks!

On the plus side, I had to have a real hunt around the engine bay for loose hoses and spotted this:

Looks like I will be evicting the little buggers on the weekend too.

When I fitted a bigger intercooler to my Discovery & doubled the boost it used to do that to the hoses, quite an impressive noise as it popped off too.

I ended up welding a blob on the cooler for the jubilee clip to sit behind, that fixed it.

I flippin hope not.
I’m kind of hoping if I make enough noise, there won’t be anyone in by the time I get to actual eviction!
I can just imagine having my arm shoved half way into the smallest recess of the engine when crunch, the little bugger decides to defend it’s territory against the pink worm extracting it’s house - me trying to retract said digit, only to relieve it of skin on multiple sides during the extraction process!

A blob of weld is a good idea. I’m hoping that a quick clean of the pipe, a loosening and turning of the clamp, a little wriggle Of the tube and tightening might do the trick. Stripping down the top end of the car to get to it otherwise might be a real PITA.

Eviction complete!

Also managed to fix the turbo leak by releasing the clamp, pushing on the pipe, rotating the clamp and tightening up again.
Maybe not the most secure of fixing, but it will get me back on the road for now.

Also got the resistor pack back in, the glove box back on so I now have a working heater fan and the interior looks a lot closer to stock again.

Next up with be center console fix, slipping fan belt fix for cold starts. But that’s just the start of the list!

And... the damned airbag light came on...
Oh well, it can keep the check engine light company.
Why can’t Subaru make all of the car as reliable as the warning message system???

Looks like the airbag light was an iffy connection under the passenger seat, so now the check engine light is all alone again.
The steering pump drive belt seems to be squeaking in the cold, so better check that out next. While in the meantime, the rear arches are rusting away like rice paper in the rain.
Oh well, no MOT here, so it’s just an eyesore, rather than a drivability issue!

It’s got a bit colder here. Yesterday was around 25F for a high and the wind would have cut you off at the knees.
Very light slickness of snow today.
The Suby reacted by having an accessory belt that cried for heat when the engine was started or during steering even when warmed. Fixed it quickly by moving the alternator up a bit - stretching the belt tension out.
Keeping an eye on the fluids due to the weeping head gasket, but so far, things have been going pretty good.
Glad I fixed the heater controls now. I keep promising it new head gaskets, a new clutch and maybe a little bodywork if it makes it though to spring. 2500+ miles so far!

I do like a good WRX.

Dubbers fix for intercooler hose popping off is hose sized heatshrink tubing. Dunno if it works - I fitted a new hose on Ms Rebel's old SEAT Leon that had the issue.
