To be fair pop riveted cover cills were fine for the MOT into the 80s, then brazing was fine, then it wasn't...

Yeeeesss… sorry about that!
Still a damn fine car you have there. Even by US aesthetic standard of classics, I still think your Buick is a real looker!

I don’t think I have a pop rivet gun. Maybe a good future investment. It would take up less space than my MIG welder anyway!

Feeling like crap today. Had my Covid booster yesterday (and flu jab) so feeling a little sorry for myself.

I’m kind of at the point where I want to mess with cars as a pleasure, rather than a necessity. Welding up the Suby wouldn’t be that much fun. I don’t know. It would save some money though… and it’s a great fun car to drive.

Checked the oil yesterday, as I know it uses it. Wouldn’t you know, it’s only gone and magically increased in amount! Not only that, but it’s only gone and converted it to smell like petrol! Probably because it runs a bit rich on the aftermarket tune.

Swapped the oil out and will need to keep an eye on that.

Looking at Jeep(s?) they seem to be doing a weird ‘worth more than new’ thing at the moment. One place had a 30k miler, one and a half years old and it was still more expensive than buying the same thing new (only you can’t as there’s a 70 - 100 day waiting list.)

A base spec 2021 Jeep with athletic window controls, self rowing gearbox (comes with free extra pedal / theft deterrent) and ultra slippy cloth seats can be had for $28k and change. Tempted but it doesn’t come with a cassette or 8 track player. What would I do with all of my Momas and Papas music?

And as if I didn’t have enough car headaches, this one is on its way.

And as it’s coming from So Cal (68F) to Minnesota (currently 12F), it’s going to hate me…

Thank you. Ha ha ha. The former owner was a fireman and needed it for carting all of this work gear around.

Apparently it’s a pretty rare original accessory that they don’t make any more.
There are some other replica types out there.

I quite like the idea of having the spare up there and going for the full Monte Carlo Rally style, but Porsche wheels are so expensive. And around these parts wouldn’t stay on there for more than 10 mins before someone steals it.

Probably why it’s on fake fuchs already!

At least your seller left the Black California plates on so far not one car I have brought over here has come with any plates. I did think it might of been the shippers pinching them as the California black plates are supposed to be worth money but all were missing the plates when collected.

That's actually cool that it was used as a car and loaded up. In which case it may wear it's roof rack with pride!

Spent the day, waiting for the 912 to turn up.
After phoning and not getting through quite a few times, while being tethered to the house - they eventually answered and told me the car wouldn’t be delivered until next Monday!
Blaming weather and a breakdown.
Damn.

Never mind use the spare time to fill the sills of the Subaru with foam or concrete to get another couple of years or of it.
