We've had this for 5 months now and it's provided faultless service. My wife loves it so it's worth getting the crispy sills fixed.

It's currently away at Davey (Gingernutzz) bit for investigation and sorting (if the rest of it isn't like the titanic).

I had a bit of an issue with an erratic oil level. The previous owner had fitted a maintenance free BMW vortex type PCV filter but unbeknownst to both of us, a garage had removed it when servicing the car and fitted a standard sponge type. Just goes to show you that a lot of places just employ monkey boys that perform parrot mechanics. Anyway, thinking I didn't need to replace that when I service the car, after a few years it had blocked up badly.

I replaced it but the erratic oil level continued for some weeks afterwards until it just seemed to settle down. Who knows!

I also carried out an oil and filter change together with a coolant change.

I cant even remember what happened but he would definitely just have taped it up and carried on there and then!

Cavalier

Not much to report on this other than I have been driving and enjoying it. The £1100 purchase price was a good buy given its condition and the work already carried out by the previous owner.

I did fit a new coolant expansion tank though as the old one was discoloured and also quite dirty inside.

It's had a surprising amount of interest at the Retroshite meets I've been going to (recommended if you are in Scotland) and I'm going to the Glenisla Car Club barbecue woth it on Sunday which will be its longest trip to date in my ownership.

I'm still very much enjoying this car, it drives great.

Saab is back with a new outrigger made from scratch. I'm delighted that this car can now live for a few more years without having to worry about corrosion.

The Cavalier drove perfectly up to Glenisla Classic Car Show and back. For anyone in the Dundee and South Aberdeen area (or further, like me) I'd thoroughly recommend it. Very relaxed and a wide variety of cars there. I got to ride shotgun with Tam in his Defender on the 4x4 run which was great as I've never done that before.

I even had time to stop at the last Little Chef left in Scotland at Balhaldie on the A9.

No food here today, or since March 2017.

This is a fantastic car but I'm really on the lookout for a MK1 KV6 now. The noise of the diesel is starting to annoy me after 2.5 years and the last 2 I owned were also diesels.

I've never drove one of those rovers before. What do you value it at?

A good one like this is lovely, magic carpet ride and it feels planted on the road. Not a drivers car as such but incredibly comfortable. This one's got a 160bhp remaps as well so is decent in the mid range.

Given the massive recent history file, and the fact that most of the 'famous' 75 issues have been fixed (other known issues haven't surfaced on this car at all) I'd stick it up at a 'not in a rush price of £1500, but only once I have found a KV6 one.
