Took the bad water pump off the good engine so I can put the good one from the bad engine on there.
The impellers don't half look different - I've never had an issue with cooling and the heater's pretty effective, so hopefully it won't start to be an issue now.

Which is which?

Both water pumps probably work, but the one with the flimsy looking pressed impeller is the one with the short shaft which means the bearings will last more than ten seconds.
Just compared the inlets - the carb mounting is different. Lucky for me AMC seem to have decided to fit an adapter plate at the factory so when they changed carb designs form 1967 to 1968, I can just swap them over so the carb mount is the one I need for the Holley Fuel injection.
Got a bit of time yesterday so had a crack at the water pump. How is it that the remains of the gasket are on the engine for the one I took off but also on the pump for the one I took off the old engine? That's just unfair, God.
