Oh and as it is kind of a collection thread better have tonights dinner. There have been a few poo's along the way but that really isn't interesting to anyone except the weirdos on the beige. Tonights dinner pushed the boat out a bit to use up the remaining euro's. The starter was snails and mushrooms and very nice too.

Then Crepes for dessert.

That is Le Monstre Briggs Cunningham's attempt to win at Le Mans with an American car. he also ran a standard car that actually finished higher than this thing. It did finish in period coming 9th I believe.

About five years ago I wrote a post on the beige about my opinion of Goodwood was that it's like a UKIP theme park so people can be nostalgic about a time when there weren't so many coloured people around. Needless to say, it was deleted.

Well I got home ok but not without a little bit of drama. The 4007 did over 700 fault free miles until it came to getting off the ferry. Luckily I was the first car at the top of the ramp to get off so when the battery decided it didn't have enough power to turn it over a couple of lads gave me a push down the slope and it fired straight up. Surprise surprise getting back to the Uk it was all closed roads and diversions. It drove fine getting home but wouldn't start again the next day so a new battery was required. I am just waiting for the painter to quote on some bodywork on the 25 before I get the new windscreen fitted. I also had a look at the aircon yesterday as after converting to R134a I found the compressor was seized. This should of been an easy fix as I had a good spare came with the car. Fucking hell what an arse of a job, it took about 5 hours to swap the bastard but it now has wroking air con. I just need to change the split steering rack gaiters and it could go for test. I spoke to my tester and he said he may let the screen go as I am changing it anyway but we will see when it goes for test. I will drop the wheels off for powder coating before I swap the tyres to put it back to proper phase 1 spec.

I didn't know you had the kit to work on/regas aircon systems. My Boxster aircon is making a lot of noise and not cycling on/off. Presumably a leak somewhere (condensers probably on a Boxster?). Something you'd be prepared to work on?

I had my v70 in at kwik fit. They done a full check and if they can't fix it, it's free.
They had it an hour or two, found a leak and gave me it back.
Couldn't fix it as their specialist who finds the leak was only there once a week. That's handy.

Not wanting to take work off panhard obvs.

I can do R134 but not the best machine in the world as it doesn't have proper leak detection. Usually a leak is pretty noticable with just vacuum, but if it doesn't show up easily I am unable to do it as I don't have the kit to pressurise the systems. Pop down with it and I can connect it up and see whats going on. I do the same deal as kwik fit in that if I can't fix it no charge. The prices went right up the other year when gas costs went from 70 quid a bottle to over 300. The last bottle I bought was about 170. I will need another one soon as there is only about a kilo and a half left in the machine.

Is it worth recovering it from anything you scrap/ send to auction.

My BiL has a deal with the local breakers where he pops in with a load of empty bottles and slips the owner a few notes to drain them down.

Never been to Le Mans but must do so.
