I seem to of done something stupid yet again

There is a chance I might be about to do something really stupid. I need to find a shit load of cash in the next 24 hours but hopefully the credit card is good for it. Anyone want to buy a Lancia cheap 3k and I will throw in new floors but must have a deal in 24hrs before the auction ends.

My dad had one of these back in the early 70's and I have been tring to buy one ever since. They very rarely come up for sale and I think this is only the second hard top I have seen in the last 20 years. I came close to buying an Abbot 12 years ago but couldn't find the 14k they wanted. The same car sold again a couple of years ago for around 40k.

I don't think I am going to be able to. My pockets aren't deep enough. It is at 5200 this morning which with the 700 plus vat fees puts me right on my limit. I will have a chat with my dad see if he will lend me a couple of grand. I can see it going to someone who wants to fully restore it and use it for all the posh events it can get you in to. I just want to get it useable and sound, saving all those years of history by not painting anything that doesn't need it.

Just imagine rocking up to a posh event having just sorted out the mechanicals and underside.
The looks you would get would make it worth even more

Yeah I wasn't expecting it to go for that much but they did make a big thing about it's motorsport heritage. It went for about 14500 once the fees were on it so about 10k more than I wanted to pay. Oh well I have a couple of other things to try and waste some money on.

I was awfully tempted with your Lancia at that price but I have two big projects and seven cars which is too many. So I kept shut before I was tempted to hit the bank transfer button!

For ready cash, I need a whole bunch of stuff on the Merc if you're prepared to work on it! No rush so if you get a quiet period and want a bit of hopefully not particularly hard work (famous last words)...

I think everyone is holding back on big projects thru lack of money, time and risk versus reward. However there are still many people still with large amounts of disposable cash to chuck around and put it into something special (i.e. the Healey). Hence that sold as there are still people prepared to impulsively chuck comparatively silly (but disposable to them) amounts on such things.

The fact it has a bit of heritage behind it probably sealed the deal on someone convinced they had to have it.

I was amazed someone bought the van before Christmas. The lancia project would have tempted me too if I was still working.
