I seem to of done something stupid yet again

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

I had to bite the bullet and buy the tank from Germany. Parts are bloody expensive for it which did surprise me. The water pump is 135 quid. It will make a nice little car though and I am pretty sure it has the 5 speed gearbox so will go ok for a 1.3.
I have also heard back from the guy who does dating certificates for me and he is happy with the info on the Buick and is sorting it out for me. It will be nice to get the registration done on it as I have had an offer of 9 grand on it so no point finishing it if I can get that for it as it stands. I will have to stop buying cars for a while though as I have too many projects. The Jensen will be welded up next month then go to my paint guy to look at the vinyl roof situation to decide what we are going to do with the bodywork.

The Jensen clutch has come unstuck and it only took 2 laps of the yard so at least it is just about driveable now. The water pump for the Lancia arrived this morning as well which is amazing as I ordered it yesterday afternoon. Just waiting for the new hoses which should be monday and that can have a run to free the clutch off as well.

Engine nice and warm and started it in gear. Then drove it round the yard with the clutch pedal down just accelerating hard, then braking hard a few times and eventually it came unstuck. Hopefully it will stay unstuck now but I also found an oil leak onto the manifold so it nearly did a "VW type 2" with lots of smoke from the oil on the exhaust.

Hopefully the end is now in sight with the Buick registration as the dating certificate arrived this morning and HMRC had no issues ammending the NOVA declaration. They had that done within an hour of emailing them the details! (Why can't all government departments run so smoothly). The NOVA is also done for the Lancia so it is lottery time again with the DVLA place bets now on which one they will want inspected. Knowing the ability to waste money at the DVLA they will probably want both inspected but will do it in such a way that it will mean 2 seperate visits as that is so much more efficient.

I've always found HMRC to be helpful and you actually get to speak to a human being on the few occasions I have had to contact them.
Next self employed tax return is going to be interesting, have had no income as I've been working on my own place and living on my wife's income I'm not planning on claiming any expenses either. I guess I had better ask what sections I should put my explanations into.

Didn't get a lot done today as the power has been off to the workshop since yesterday afternoon. It's a bit weird really as it was fine whilst the storm was at it's worst then dropped out later in the afternoon. Hopefully it will be back on by Monday. Anyway as I couldn't get much done with no power the first job was to free off the Lancia clutch. This one took a bit longer to come off but it has now which makes things much easier to move it in and out. I then changed the cam cover gasket to stop an oil leak on the Jensen and that was it for the day.
