I seem to of done something stupid yet again

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Finally got the Renault 25 back today all in one colour and with no dents or flaking paint. It does look good but as it is dark now you will have to take my word for it. I have spent the afternoon sorting out a few little niggles. When I swapped the tailgate it was for a normal one and didn't have the soft close so I have been rewiring it so I can fit the control unit and motor. It was pretty easy just needed one extra wire run through. I have also fixed the glove box which was held shut with tape. All it needed was a replacement catch so a 2 min job. All I have to do now is refit all the boot trims but that is a job for the moning.

Finished putting the interior back together this morning and then took it for a good 50 mile run. The fuel gauge has started to work but not sure how accurate it is. It is also putting random brake failiure lights on every now and again and the ABS light is back on. None of that is really effecting the way it goes and I did give it a bit of a poke down the M5 earlier and it happily romps up to 180kph. Just a few little niggles to sort out and a really good clean left to do.

Also took the hearse back home as it is just about finished now. I doesn't look quite so like a hearse now so I removed the cross from the bonnet and it now has a bat mascott.

Didn't it have a Maltese cross previously? Got to admit it looks better in my eyes like that, like a Ranchero with a truckman top

The plan for the 25 is to just use it weekends and generally enjoy it. So far I am very happy with it which is unusual for me when I go back to a car I had found memories of. I will have to keep it away from the salt though as it is in very good condition underneath but the uk roads could soon spoil that.
The hearse is nearly finished now just curtains to hang and some storage box lids to make. The plan with it is to use for my annual trips to Le Mans. I have sorted trips to the main race and the classic next year so hopefully this will be more comfortable than a tent.

Have you any form of night heater for it?
I slept in the back of my van at Frazer's and it was probably the coldest I've ever been. I hardly slept a wink.
He doesn't live at Le mans though.

Thats just being a wimp having a heater. Vans are colder to sleep in though. I have kipped in a Renault 25 in the snow following the RAC rally years ago and it was fine but I did have to fire up the heater a few times. Le Mans in June should be warm enough and more likely require air con than a heater.

Done a bit of fettling on the 25 today mainly changing the injector seals and fuel hoses as it was leaking a little fuel on start up. Also done a video of the voice synth but as it was on my phone it is a facebook link and might not work.

Mine doesn’t do that- unless they all need attention on yours?
