I went out last night and measured the door(s) - madcap evenings around here eh?
They are identical lengths each side - but neither rear door meets the striker plate in the right place.

They probably weren't a great fit to begin with, I doubt the body has flexed being on a chassis, is it possible to adjust them or have previous repairs distorted things?

I actual really like the look of this car and being a factory rhd makes it even better in my mind!

My guess is a combination of previous repairs and rot has moved things a bit. In theory it shouldn’t move around on the chassis but at least one of the mounts has rotted away, and a couple have been rebuilt in a fairly crude way

Are the body cuts you would need absolutely unique to that one year and model?

If the body mounts are a bit iffy you are probably right - in my mind it wouldn't be the end of the world to level it and get the gaps correct again though if you had the time and space.

Pity this isn't AS where people would throw money at you to buy the most expensive part worn tyres you could find for it!

Good job it isn't AS otherwise folk would be recommending it gets welded to a Chrysler 300C floorpan and fitted with seats from a crashed Mondeo.

Yeah but the panel gaps were never great anyway. It was a cheap mass-produced car the workers had minutes to throw the doors on. If they close you should count yourself lucky.
