Re: K-Seal?
K Seal is dreadful stuff, but a decent rad sealer is ok. Steel Seal is very good for head gasket dramas.

Re: K-Seal?
A Chevy one fits in the space but is not as tall, the outlet pipes are too small and point the wrong way and there's no provision for the heater return.
I don't want to get this one recored, the top tank especially is too brittle, that's what keeps failing.
Seems that's about the cost of a custom built radiator, here.

Name some products? I'm curious because I've only seen K-Seal here. The Reverend Bluejeans wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 10:14 am K Seal is dreadful stuff, but a decent rad sealer is ok. Steel Seal is very good for head gasket dramas.

Re: K-Seal?
There are no junkyards with anything older than about 15 years here.
This radiator is an odd form-factor by today's standards (taller than it is wide) and the big old boat anchor of an engine needs every square inch of cooling it can get.
I could probably get a junkyard radiator but... It's just as old as the one I have and will 99% chance be leaking too.

Re: K-Seal?
I threw some sealant like that into a 1986 Ford Aerostar that had to not leak on a banger rally.
Imagine driving through France and Spain in January when the heater matrix had choked on sealant, I was not popular.
I did get a GMC G20 radiator re-cored for less than the cost of a new unit but the Aerostar had plastic end caps so that wasn't an option.
Does it have a transmission cooler in there as well ?

Re: K-Seal?
Both the core and the tanks are starting to fail.
It's leaking from way up in the middle, where is nearly impossible to get to externally. Being honeycomb, it's a weird design to begin with.
No transmission cooler.

Bottom hose on the wrong side, facing the wrong way.
No heater return.
Any breakers likely to have something are a couple hours away and I might as well save my money, radiators have a hard life in the south with high temps and lots of flies.
