I like the original C4 Cactarse as well.

I'd buy one for exactly the same reason I bought a new Ka in 1999, namely I'd had a bellyful of shit old cars causing me dramas. I'm 23 years older now as well.
The 1999 KA was never a new car. Any car you have to weld for its first MOT and need to remember the rule of nine to set the tappets was born an old car.
Mine had it first MOT fail on corrosion at 10 years old.

I didn't do the tappets once in the 60,000 miles it did in three years.
Did it have a Powered By Fairydust sticker like so many KAs seemed to have?

I don't know much about the octane rating of fairydust but judging by the serious rust most KAs have around the fuel filler neck it must be pretty corrosive stuff.

I thought Ford had stopped making 'cars' a good while ago now.

I can't easily express my loathing for crossovers enough. I can however like the Matra Rancho because it was innovative at the time and the 2012-model Duster because it was cheap and basic.

I suppose some people might have thought the same of these shitty little hatchbacks coming to market in the 1970s but at least they served a great purpose. Its the pretentiousness of cars like the new Puma that gets to me.

I will never buy one, unless I am somehow forced to.

I remember reading somewhere that due to the restricted number of chips available for new vehicles Ford d to use whatever chips they could get on Transits as they're more profitable and Covid helped expand the home delivery market meaning punters were gagging for vans.

I saw the thread title and thought-“ So what ?”

Then I realised, I have bit of history with them

1981 Had lessons and passed my test in a V reg 1100 L .
1983 Made a tidy profit on a T reg 1300GL bought in bizarre circumstances.
1984 Regular use of a company Black Y reg XR2.
1985 The very early ( B plate) Mk2 XR2 pictured above with the current Mrs N. In the 6 months I had that car we probably had sex in it more times than in the last 6 years !
1990’s Bought and sold 20 or 30 of the things, always gone by 6 pm on Thursday when the local paper came out. Never a massive profit because you had to pay strong money for them in the first place.

Haven’t so much as sat in one this Century, even having 4 girls to find cars for at 17, the nearest was a KA.

Where does time go with kids?

Both of mine now tower over me yet it doesn't seem that long since I was cradling them in my arms. Must be the particular braincells that have died off I guess.

She wont learn drive.. The northern monkey Micra , i put in my wifes name yesterday and she insured it , to keep her NCB alive . Daughter insured it for the last 2 years as a learner ,and me as a named driver for 400 quid a year , and drove it maybe 4 times ?? She's now at uni so didn't want insure it , but it's too good a car to get rid of.. some people just don't drive i guess . I kept that Mk1 Fiesta all this time for her , because she wanted it , a cool little car for a youngster , but if she's a non driver , fuck it i might as well sell it !

Maybe she's worried about damaging it, it's got quite a lot of baggage (I can't think of the right term but hopefully you'll understand what I'm trying to say) with it. I had what might be the same issue with my missus about driving the camper. In the end she was scared of driving it as she knew how much effort and money it had cost.
(Cue burning engine comments from the usual suspects)

Alternatively some of my lads mates don't drive, they don't really need to and don't have any interest in doing so.

I don't think I'll ever understand not wanting to drive unless you live a hellhole like London.
