Every thing else about the X308 is more Jag though. More refined, smoother, faster, quieter blah blah blah.
I loved my XJ40 but some how a X300 left me cold.

If money were no object then it would be an early S3 XJ12 with BL plugholes on the keys. Class!

The Rev BlueJeans once wrote a captivating article highlighting the difference between Series 3 and XJ40: maintenance. The XJ40 (and its derivatives) needs a lots less. Lovely as the Series 3 is, you'd spent significant time and money looking after it were you to use it regularly and all year. The X300 V12 (I forgot the correct code name) needs even less maintenance than a XJ40 V12.Eddie Honda wrote: ↑Thu Apr 27, 2023 9:55 pm If money were no object then it would be an early S3 XJ12 with BL plugholes on the keys. That I'm well aware of that as Father Honda had a 1980 one in 1985. He lasted two years with it, before selling it to Uncle Honda for export. Might still be knocking around Western Australia somewhere.AutoshiteBoy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 27, 2023 10:02 pm you'd spent significant time and money looking after it were you to use it regularly and all year.

The XJ40 was a proper car. It would rack up 100k in three or four years with basic servicing and still be a good car.
They did rust but took much longer to do so, and the AJ6 engine is a tough old bastard.

Someone once told me that the pre HE V12 was better for tuning. I've no idea if that's true or not.Eddie Honda wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 6:42 pmAs I said, it's a nostalgia thing with bonus bragging rights.Warren t claim wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 6:24 pmPre HE?
