Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

For all its faults, the XJ40 was a huge leap forward.

A black Sovereign or a Daimler please - fishtanks are a must.

Twin round lights please, I much prefer the look and you can see where you are going with them. But yes the XJ40 was a lovely car. My low spec 3.2S got me hooked on Jags

My dad has a 6.0 XJS but maybe too new for this thread.
Switchgear gives off the quality vibe of a 1978 Marina.

The xjs was always much better looking than the E-type. Except for the Lightweight racing cars.

I reckon the 2 seat E Type is far better looking unless you're looking from directly in front or behind. I have to admit though that the XJS has grown on me over the years, that 6 litre does look pretty good.

The Ford facelift versions were so much better. Styling aside (I’m not mega keen) the build quality was vastly improved and they don’t rot anything like as badly. The 4.0 was the best all rounder.

The big problem to my eyes is the wheels are so deep in the arches it nearly looks like a monorail. By fitting wider wheels in the right place, the lightweight solved that.

Btw I believe the standard E-tyre had the same size tyres as the XR3, 185/60R14.

2022 JLR statement on build quality. "Our cars are much better than the poor quality stuff we made a decade ago".

I could take this as far back as the John Egan days.

In defence of the XJ40, It took about eight years before I saw a truly rotten example. Something I cant say about the W210 Mercedes.

John Egan admitted that the 1.6 billion or whatever Ford paid basically just bought the name and the ability for their execs in Dearborn to have Jags as their company cars. It also put one over on GM which probably mattered more than anything to them.
