Re: 2007 Focus Mk2 - A Very Boring Banger
My Focus doesn't have the heated screen and gets a band of cold condensation across the lower part during certain conditions. Sometimes it needs heat to clear other times the aircon. Doesn't help that it is six fucking feet away from my face so impossible to use the demist pad that has served me well since I ran an A35 as a daily.... As in that car I tend to drive around with my window open.
Compared to what most people drive these days, though, I'm quite happy to be seen in my Mk2 - the 1.8 gets 40mpg on a run, sod what it does locally I don't really care and it does what I bought it for Mrs Rocker to do. Only real complaint I have are the shit seats that are worse than those flip down things you used to get in an FX4, if it was my only car I'd be tempted to do something about them.
With all the talk about Ford no longer building an actual car I suppose stuff like this is the last bastion of the family Ford.....

So leave the AC on. Modern systems are said to use less fuel than the extra drag of opening a window.bub2006 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 11:14 pmYes if the car has ac I agree but the ignis doesn't have ac and numerous cars we've owned over the years had no functioning ac either. I have found out when using the ac to demist though means it fogs up near instantly as soon as the ac is turned off again where as not using the ac means it doesn't fog up again providing blower fan is left on.

Me too, although that's usually because I've got a tab on the go.

Claire doesn't like to use the ac. You've met Claire so feel free to come and argue with her mate. I'll be outside minding my own business while you do. On the focus it drops the mpg by about 2 too so around 29 to 30 average with it on.Hooli wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 11:19 pmSo leave the AC on. I had to argue with her just to get it regassed but still would benefit from a new dryer.

I can't remember the last time I used an ashtray in a vehicle. Obviously not in any taxi or truck since 2006. I miss the under dash skip sized ashtray fitted to the late Mk3/early Mk4 Cortina.

I don't use one either. I wash ashtray out of a car if it's been used then use it to store loose change or in the ignis case I keep fuel money and tips from drops. Fag ends usually end up in an empty can in driver door pocket or out the window.Warren t claim wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 11:31 pm I can't remember the last time I used an ashtray in a vehicle. Ditto, I haven't had a car with opening quarterlights on the road for ages.bub2006 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 11:26 pmSame reason as me!Warren t claim wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 11:24 pmMe too, although that's usually because I've got a tab on the go.

My dad and grandad both swore by quarterlights for smoking.Eddie Honda wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 11:34 pmDitto, I haven't had a car with opening quarterlights on the road for ages.bub2006 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 11:26 pmSame reason as me!Warren t claim wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 11:24 pm

Re: 2007 Focus Mk2 - A Very Boring Banger
I found myself caught with a full ashtray by taxi licencing who wanted to take my badge away for smoking in my Mondeo. I got away with it by telling them that I took the ashtray out of the car when I had a smoke so I didn't get fined by the council's litter plod.bub2006 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 11:34 pmI don't use one either.
