That sounds well with light revs, what is the exhaust system like on this if it's been rallied? Expansion chambers? I bet with a bit of tuning it could surprise modern stuff at the traffic lights.

Ordered an electronic ignition set up from a company in Eastern Germany. They specialise in Eastern block parts and it seems the home page is still stuck in the 70's with this amongst the pictures.

What's the rev range like and do you have to keep these in the power band like a 2 stroke bike?

This thing is now starting to piss me off a bit with the amount of missing parts. Now it is running I though I would try the transmission. I push the clutch and it goes straight to the floor. Great I think as I find the cable is missing, but it gets worse when I tried moving the clutch fork there is no resistance. A quick look in the bell housing with my little inspection camera and the whole clutch is missing. I am seriously pissed off with it now as he never mentioned any of these bits being missing and I suspect he didn't know himself. The owners club have also said they couldn't do a dating certificate for it as it has the wrong body on the 1957 chassis. I hope it would be able to register as it is only the anoraks of this world that would notice the problem. The guy I bought it from is being really good about it and offered to pay for the missing bits but thats not much help if you cant find them.

I’ve had good success registering old mopeds and bikes by getting mot certs with the date on. So for example simson schwalbe 1975 as they MOT on chassis and add description. DVLA then either accept or send chap out to ID who takes the info off the MOT pass or fail.
