No, but I did manage to blag my Class 2 when the examiner was going to fail me.
My examiner wasn't happy about how close I (very slowly) passed a bin wagon with men loading it. She, yes I had a lady examiner, said she wasn't happy about the thought of me driving a rigid commercially so I told her that I only want my Class 2 so I can take my terminally ill father out in his preserved ERF for one last time before eventually using his ERF to carry his coffin.
I remember turning up to Simonswood test centre (RIP) to take my C+E test and on the way there my instructor was telling me that she (yes, I had a lady instructor!) hoped I'd get Donna the lady examiner. Donna was the examiner I blagged last time so I was praying that I didn't get her again!

I turn up at the test to find that Donna will once again be my examiner! Not good! She greets me with a cheerful "have we met before" question. Now, as a veteran of taking countless bike learners for their tests, I recognise this as the standard DSA examiner meeting to ascertain whether this is a first attempt or a retest. I make the executive decision to imply that this is a retest and she failed my last Class 1 test just incase she recognises me during my test.

Police check/CRB/DBS applied for online today as the DVLA has finally returned my documents. Local council has warned me that it could take up to eight weeks to come back.

It's lucky it's free to live while waiting to be able to work isn't it?

I returned home to find that my CRB/DBS form had arrived. Result!

I phone my doctors about getting a medical. They fucking hate doing taxi medicals so I said it was an HGV medical as I may get both done at the same time. They're refusing to give me an appointment date until I've had an optician complete the eyesight part of the test as now my doctor refuses to carry out that check. Make many attempts to phone the council for a medical form but apparently, since the start of Covid they're refusing to answer the fucking phone and visiting them without an appointment is seriously frowned upon.

Come to think of it, 12 days is fucking quick for an enhanced DBS check considering I've not only moved house but I'm not on the voters roll here.

Just to add insult to injury, I bumped into a taxi mate in my local Kurdistan Kheap Kigarette shop yesterday. I know that Arriva bus drivers are on strike here so work must be quite good but I wasn't expecting him to be showing me screen grabs of lads pulling in between £2k to £2.5k a week. That's almost part time plumber money!
