From experience and talking to people with these avensis there seems to be a general consensus to go for the 1.8 petrol. More reliable and less to go wrong than the diesel and fuel economy not bad at all. Our lasses 1.8 regularly did high 30s low 40s local mixed driving and had seen over 50mpg on one run.

Ah, it was a diesel. They were shite as the bores weren't properly honed. I was getting new blocks fitted under warranty. In the end Toyota gave in and bought in BMW lumps for the Avensis.

I normally work Sunday nights through to Monday morning.

I finished early tonight after having to slap some fucking prick due to him kicking off at me and him running out of payment options.

At least I extracted a fiver out of his pocket that he'd forgotten about plus his mobile.

Are you not worried about being locked up? That's what calmed me down. I was fucking sick of it. And once I had a name for myself as a wrong'n, they'd often lift me for no reason. I haven't been locked up since about 2002. Partner at the time bumped her car pissed and they caught me with some dope in the door bin on the passenger side.

He's a smackhead that's hardly likely to go running to the plod as he's probably wanted on a warrant anyway.

I used to do the same, but it was piss-easy. Sit on station rank, wait for train, take sailor (back off weekend home) to the base (HM Clyde 5½ miles), rinse and repeat. After the last train, rank up on the sea front for a last fare or fuck off home.

This is why I haven’t got the patience for real cab work anymore . I haven’t got the restraint just to do the sensible thing and gently admonish these people, I’m afraid I’d have junkies buried in the woods all over the manor.

Well, last night was one of those nights. Here on Merseyside we have something called Mischief Night which happens the day before Halloween. Basically, it's an excuse for kids to throw bricks at busses and taxis. Needless to say, there's no fucking way I'm working tonight so I battered it yesterday.

£am I get a call to pick up at the local hospital. The guy can't be more than 50 but looks like a walking skeleton. I run him home as he's discharged himself from the ward he was on. The bill comes to £4.60 and after spending 15 minutes looking for his wallet without any luck I let him off the fare. He resembles a jew liberated from Belson and clearly just wants to go home to die. He does his best to invite me into his flat but I decline. The vast majority of non payers get themselves a slap for their efforts but I let the lonely, dying fella off.

Next call is strange. I pick up a young lady of about 23. Making conversation I ask why she's out so late and her answer stuns me, she's off to deal with her depressed boyfriend who wants to live his life as a woman! She's quite tidy so it seems he's a lesbian trapped in a woman's body!!! He doesn't want to lose her and coughed to wearing her underwear when she's out. She thinks the world of him but doesn't want to be a lesbian!

Life is strange. Wierd the hospital guy had his key but no wallet.

Nomercrocker which buses have you been taking? The special one isn't supposed to do normal pickups!
