Those basic Anglias with the van grille were rare beasts. I rescued one from my ex BIL's parents house about 7 years ago. It was a low mileage two owner 1965 car but it had sat in a damp shed for 25 years. It was fucked, sadly.

Think it was only the 5cwt that had the metal grille used on the Base Anglia. 7 cwt vans had a shorter version of the chrome de Luxe grille which often found its way onto pre-deluxe Angleboxes back in the day - a thing that used to bother me as an OCD car-spotter child. I think all the vans ended up with the saloon grille towards the end. Again, folk used to fit those to vans anyway so it all gets confused in the mist of time.

I spoke to a Ford styling bod at a motor show at the NEC around 1997. The grille and indicators on the 1996 Ka were inspired by the 105E. PHACT.

First time I saw a Ka I was immediately reminded of the 105E so it worked well! There were actually 3 incarnations of the Anglia front quarter lamps, from the original frosted clear to a twin amber/clear set up and finally the all-amber as mimicked on the Ka - these Anglias had the sidelamp pilots in the headlamp assembly.

The Ka certainly rots like a 105E. Have you noticed how few you see now? Another 5 years and they'll be gone.

There haven't been any Kas on our local bottom-feeding crap car lot for a good while - always a good barometer of a disappearing species.....

I've forgotten to stop for pics of this place when I've cycled past it twice recently.

The amount of old cars etc right near the canal is much higher than this link suggests.
