One of my “car a month” candidates was meant to be this lovely* VW Fox. Bought from a garage in Aberdeenshire that I did a good deal with for offloading a modern Clio I had been lumbered with.
460 mile drive home with the EML on and an occasional misfire at idle seemed like a really good idea. Apart from nearly needing to abandon it in Preston during Storm Dennis when it cut out at a set of lights it did alright. Made it.

All was not well in the engine compartment though. Was it the famous 1.2 BMD misfire?! Of course it fucking was.

Looking good! The car's not worth much yet seems worth fixing.

I mis-read the above as a knackered old Dennis beat you at some traffic lights in Preston. I am disappointed the reality was not as exciting.

Started prepping for reassembly, slight issue with the rocker cover on the new* head but I’ll just use the old one once some sealant and fasteners arrive
