Anyone got a walk through to replace the blower motor on a Peugeot 806?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Anyone got a walk through to replace the blower motor on a Peugeot 806?

Post by quietside »

Might have got a line on a suitable 806 1.9 TD - but the heater/blower is fucked.

I'm right in saying that the blower motor/resistor is under the glove box? Pull that out, swap it out, sorted?

Anyone done it who can point me in the right direction with images?

I might have some pics. I was looking at how to revive the motorised mixer flap on the Synergie and must have saved some exploded diagrams from the Service box.

That would be really helpful.

How easy/hard a job is/was it?

You're making the erroneous assumption that I've actually started the job and the further assumption that I've actually completed said job.

HAVING NOT DONE IT, the exploded drawings and pictures I've seen, along with the decent working space compared to a car make it look straightforwards and not a contortionist's nightmare.

All the exploded diagrams of the Synergie VSX full air con (just needs a regas m9), show the general set up with a pair of blowers.

Povvo-spec manual heating on RHD cars is a single blower

In both cases, the blower motor resistor or "heater motor control module" as the Servicebox description calls it, is the boomerang-shaped no 10.

Eddie, I converted my broken heater mixer flap to a cable operated effort using parts from an older model expert van. It wasn't too hard to do.

Someone has bent a control flap wire rod under the steering wheel. It can sort of be set to warm cold, depending purely on friction.

If I can be arsed doing anything to it, I'll put it back to stock.

Mine isn't that sort of lash up, it attaches to the mixer knob at the controls and the flap under the cowling, it's actually fitted as Peugeot did on the older vans and doesn't need electronics to work. Just mechanical effort.
Understand putting things back as they should be though, there's nothing wrong with that!

You lot are making it sound all rather complicated! Assuming it is actually the motor at fault, just remove the cover under the dash. A couple of torx screws or clips, depending on model. Motor is under there. Three torx or Philips screws then you can lower it.

I'm only making sound complicated because fancy climate control on VSX.

As diagrammed above, povvo spec is 3 cables and a mono blower.

It's an SR and it's the switch at fault. PO stuck a button on the dash to bypass it so it runs all the time.

Fuck me the interior mings - more than the late, great Max von Sydow (RIP).
