I was flicking through March 1986 Ford Cars brochure , sitting in the hot tub in the sunshine , like you do. ( unemployment is a terrible thing) When I was reminded of this question.
By March 86 the 4i was gone but the 4x4 still had the 2.8.
XR4x4 - 150 bhp
Capri 2.8 injection Special - 160bhp
Granada/ Scorpio 2.8i- 150 bhp
The reason? The Sierra and Granada used the new Electronic controlled Bosch L- Jetronic
The Capri still used the K-Jetronic as introduced in the Mark2 Granny in 1977. The 2.9 when it was introduced later that year was back to 160 bhp although that never made it to the Capri.
I seem to remember now that Cort16 on AS had issues from his early 2.8 Mk3 Granny having a very shortlived ( in production terms) injection system.
