So it is! I seem to remember a few years ago one of the Post Office car insurance posters on the wall in our local PO featuring a Zaporozhets....I wonder if it is deliberate to avoid brand-imaging or similar marketing tosh.

Hardknott & Wrynose ( Cumbria ) : Bullnose Morris on Wrynose very early 1900s before the tarmac road was laid

From where i nicked it , it says , that Bullnose can be no older than 1926 season (from late 1925 to July 1926), prior to this they had no brakes on the front wheels!

That last Oldsmobile picture has intrigued me. Where is it ? The Europeans in the background suggest maybe a Serviceman doing some family touring, but the ADO16 appears to be an Austin America from its headrests, the spelling on the building suggests the Us but maybe Turkey? What appears to be a Fiat 128 could be any foreign built derivatives Yugo/ Zastava etc. And does anyone else think the other car is a late 124 Sport Coupe? If not what might it be.
Does the number plate or big number on the Airsteam point to anything to do with US Service temporary import or anything, and what about the mountains? I may never sleep again!

I wondered about that, too.....Perhaps the bold number on the Airstream indicates a hire fleet or could it belong to a sited community of some kind and be on the move between those? I took the two foreigners to be Fiats as Norfolk indicates and that is definitely an America - the later models of which used the same grille as our 1300GT, the chromed rear window surrounds also confirm Austin America. Spelling of the "Center" and general architecture/topography says maybe Utah/Colorado but could be elsewhere in North American to me, I cannot focus on the numberplate fully but the Olds would appear to be Ohio registered.

Maybe there was some kind of furrin' auto-licker round those parts - certainly the three cars visible were sold over there.

From when we were there on our honeymoon,a bit later than that pic was taken:

Nice selection of long roofs Mr animals. I owned a '58 Chevy wagon in its rare two door form, it was the base model Yeoman. I bought it in 1977 for 130 quid with its straight six motor and manual box sitting on the floor behind it. I sold those for 30 quid as I planned to put a V8 in it, the car was a project. It survives and lives in Finland where it does indeed have a 350ci V8 in it. I'd love to get it back.

Last March, the surface is getting back to that Bullnose picture in a lot of places , had to switch off the traction control and go a bit gung-ho on a couple of the steep hairpins , it was a bit slippery and the tyres were shit, mind.
