I don't think I've ever seen a green Texaco before, normally black and red I seem to recall.

I’ve only just noticed thos Rapiers are possibly rally cars or some sort of export spec. They seem to have Town and Country tyres and work lights on the wings at the base of the screen plus a spotlight as reversing light on the back bumper.

Yes, rally team cars. The building is the Competitions Department (says on it!) which at that time I believe was in Stoke on Trent.

Proper trials! Never mind all this bouncing and wiggling on a cross between a Ford Pop and a bedstead. See if you can get that bloody Corsair up there.....

My dad had a late Zephyr 4 (he was always too mean to buy a 6), I recall that it was Purbeck Grey with a red interior. I saw it in the late 70's parked in a side road looking shabby. They were nice cars, very spacious with a huge boot but they did like to rust. My dad's one was traded in for a Mk4 Deluxe in Saluki Bronze, naturally it was the V3 version. That was the first car that I drove on the beach when we were on holiday in Somerset, I was 15 and he really didn't want me to drive it. On another note back in the long hot summer of '76 I was a mechanic/helper for a banger racing team and my friend got hold a of a Mk3 Zephyr 4 in faded maroon. The front sidelight pods had fallen off, you could see the road in various places and it was on three 13" and one 14" wheel. He was stopped by plod who told him to go away and not to be seen on the road in it again. It did run like a top though but met its end with our team.
