I have driven a few of these dreadful heaps of shit but even so I think it would be a shame for it to end up like the Fabia next to it. Hopefully it is just being stored there by one of the firemen. I could ask if anybody was interested

Oh that looks like the early narrow SJ410 with the massive* 1.0l engine. I believe the transferbox is worth money as you need one of the gears out of it for a 'rock lobster' conversion, which gives you a lot lower low range than they came from the factory with.

I had one years ago, it was massively rotten then but went places LRs couldn't.

I met someone who has had a good look at that Talbot. It was being sold by some dubious th ed in Birmingham for only £400. He was put off by some poor quality welding repairs and an even more tappety engine than what he thought was normal.

I delivered lots of Alpines when they came out and the rattly engine spoilt what was otherwise quite a decent car for the time. My own motor then was high mileage Simca 1100, and the noise was commensurately worse.

I remember a mate's Dad buying one. He had two motors normally, an 1100 Countryman and a Wolseley 18/85 but when he retired he flogged the Billy Blundered and traded the crab in for an Alpine - same colour as the T reg one up there. I remember how miffed he was after what seemed like a few weeks you could hear the Chrysler coming a quarter of a mile away. He was even more miffed when he realised it was more than a job for the SPQR tappet adjuster that had served him well through A and B series for a generation.

I scored very low on the autie test. I’m cheerful, happy, confident, like meeting new people, chatty and largely sociable. What the fuck am I doing on this forum?

That appears to have less side visibility than the average water tank.
